It’s mid way through the Autumn/Winter gig season and I’ve found myself in a week where I will be photographing 4 artists for the first time; with Catfish and the Bottlemen being first on the list. The gig itself was somewhat challenging with the 3 songs that we were allowed to shoot in spent majorly with red fill and key lights. This meant that I had a big job to do in editing, particularity with colour correcting the images, see the before and after:
In a situation like this it is very tempting to edit the entire set in completely black and white as it saves on editing time. I have therefore purposely edited a few photos in colour in order to challenge my editing skills, rather then just doing what is easiest.
I am somewhat reluctant to post this photograph due to the focus being a bit soft on the subjects face. I feel, however, that it captures the moment, and infact the gig, rather well.
I like how this photo is in complete contrast to the other singing shot I took of Van McCann, below. One thing that I have been aiming to do recently is trying not to post what is essentially the same photograph twice.
I’m always a fan of wide photographs, like this one, showing both the band and the atmosphere from the crowd. I could not quite get this image to look correct in colour; so settled for a black and white edit.
