This year I had the pleasure of attending the first Ramblin’ Man Fair festival on Saturday July 24th; this was thanks to a client, Helicopter/Jet Charter company, Charter A, who had been charted to transport festival headliner, Scorpions. Charter A had tasked me with getting aerial photographs of the festival, of Scorpions performing and of them arriving and boarding the helicopter. Having 9 weekends of festivals across my summer of 2015 and all the gigs I covered earlier on in the year means my skills as a music photographer have progressed well to the point that I can comfortably get the shots the client wants with ease.
This was the first time I had tried my hand at aerial photography and I found it quite the challenge-I had to photograph through the window from a fast moving helicopter, all whilst trying to frame, focus and get my settings right for each image. It is something I am planning to do more of.
I couldn’t resist using a black and white edit for such a classic pose from frontman, Klaus Meine.
